Natural Health Doesn’t have to be Complicated

Many times people want to live a healthy style, but they simply get overwhelmed with all the changes they need to make. So instead of even trying, they choose to accept the health issues they are currently living with as their reality.  It really doesn’t need to be complicated at all.  Remember, this is a life style change and your habits didn’t become what they are today over night.  I realize everyone wants the quick fix and are desperately seeking it, but it just doesn’t exist.  We need to look at this as a journey and enjoy the transformation that will occur along the way.  Honestly, you will be amazed at the changes you will experience, mentally and physically and very quickly.  Unfortunately, there are many aspects of our life that we can’t control, but our healthy isn’t one of them. Whether you are already eating healthy or are just beginning, there are tips that will encourage all levels of wellness.  It’s Your Body…Own It! 

Simple steps to get you on track to a healthy mind and body, where “Health is Inspired by Nature”

1.    What are you trying to achieve?  What is your motivation?  Are you trying to lose weight, eliminate a current illness or simply looking for a natural method of preventing illness.  The best way many have found to do this is to write your reasons down, so you can reflect on them on a regular basis.

2.   Plan of action  Many will focus on the reasons why they can’t live healthy:  I don’t know where to start, I don’t have time, it costs too much, I don’t want to give up___?! You need to begin by making the decision.  Do I want to live a healthy life or accept the inevitable illness that will follow an unhealthy life style?  It’s your choice and only you can make it. 

            a. Where to startOne of the best ways to overcome obstacles is to be prepared and have        a plan.    

      b.  I don’t have enough time This is a big one and can be eliminated by preparing.  Decide what type of meals you will prepare for the week.  A rule of thumb for a healthy balanced meal is to include lean protein, veggies, fruits and healthy fats.  Have fun with it.  Make a list for the grocery store and stick to it.  Never go shopping hungry. Take a hour or so to prepare your food for the week.  Cut up fruits, veggies and divide the food up in containers for each meal.  This works great for lunches to take with you to work.  Also, when you are tired after work and don’t feel like preparing a meal, you have the bulk of it all ready to go.  You will be glad you were prepared. Make sure to increase your water intake. It should be half your body weight in ounces.

c. It costs too much to eat healthy  I have found that shopping at produce stores as opposed to the grocery store will save you a lot of money.  You will notice you can get a substantial amount more for your dollar and the food will be so much fresher and organic.  They will also have a section that is ready to eat and will be offered at a discount.  This works great for smoothies.

d.  I don’t want to give up___?  You don’t have to give everything up that you love.  Moderation is a beautiful thing.  But, to be honest with you at least from my experience, the healthier you to eat, the more your body will crave the nutrient rich foods.  You won’t enjoy the unhealthy foods like you once did.  It’s not as scary as you may think.  Instead more refreshing and comforting that your body is responding in a positive way to the healthy changes that you are making.  Let the transformation unfold a little at a time.  Pick 1 or 2 things to change for the week and continue to add to those changes when you feel you are ready.  This will be different for each individual based on where you start.

3. Don’t get discouraged-No one is perfect and you will make choices that are not particularly healthy.  So what, put it behind you and move forward toward your health goals.  Like I mentioned earlier these changes aren’t going to happen overnight.  Think about choices before you decide, along with the pros and cons of that decision.  Ask yourself is this taking me in the direction of your desires? So be patient with yourself and stay positive about your decision.
